The Honolulu Police Department uses automated license plate readers in marked police cars and other locations to identify vehicles from a list of stolen cars or other vehicles of interest. Public First requested additional information about HPD’s policies regarding ALPRs. HPD also provided “detections” for a specific vehicle owned by a member of Public First’s staff (document not posted).
