Public First objected to a “celebrity” request to proceed under a fictitious name (John Doe) in a federal Freedom of Information Act case seeking public records about his detention at the airport by the Department of Homeland Security in Doe v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 25-CV-507. On January 28, 2026, the Honorable Wes Reber Porter denied plaintiff’s motion to proceed under a pseudonym and ordered additional briefing by plaintiff regarding the motion to seal. The “celebrity” and DHS subsequently agreed to extend those briefing deadlines pending settlement discussions. No. 25-MC-433.
