In January 2024, all federal judges in the District of Hawaii recused from United States v. Keith Kaneshiro et al., 22-CR-48. The court sealed immediately subsequent filings that led up to a bail revocation hearing for Defendant Sheri Jean Tanaka. During the hearing, allegations regarding her conduct were discussed publicly. In January 2026, Public First moved to unseal documents filed before the bail revocation hearing. Public First’s motion was filed under 26-MC-10. On February 17, Judge Shanlyn A. S. Park granted the motion to unseal.
